Center, to v. Sphere hosts, to the VMs in the hosts, down to the HQ- managed software running in a VM. The plugin detects the hierarchy, so the v. Sphere resources automatically support hierarchical alerting - so that you do not need to configure dependency relationships yourself. The v. Sphere plugin replaces the VMware Infrastructure Manager plugin available in previous versions of HQ. The VMware Infrastructure Manager plugin is deprecated in HQ 4. For more information see Understanding Hierarchical Alerting. Under Hyperic Enterprise, in a v. Sphere resource hierarchy (VMware v. Center - v. Sphere Host - v. Sphere VM - managed server): Hierarchical alerting is supported for the VM - managed server hierarchy: when the condition for an alert on a HQ Agent- managed server in an v. Sphere VM is true, the alert will not fire if the v. Sphere VM where the server runs currently has a unfixed availability alert. Hierarchical alerting is not supported for the v. Center - v.
